 Why Things Smell Like Towels

The origins of Girls Are Pretty are foggy. Popular legend has it that many years ago a teenage boy and his mother were digging a grave in which to bury the boy's father, his mother's husband. It was said that the boy's father, his mother's husband, "done got what he deserved and deserved what he done got."

While digging, the boy discovered in the dirt a book of handwritten pages held together in the kind of coarse, library-issue binding that "Treasure Island" always used to be in. The boy's mother told him to hold onto the book, in case they might be able to sell it later. They needed to hang onto things that they could sell.

The boy later discovered the book to contain a calendar of holidays spanning several unspecified years. He cherished the book while he was alive, which was not very long. The boy did his best to observe the holidays detailed in the book, an effort that soon brought about his swift, painful, and very embarrassing accidental death.

Over the years, the book passed in and out of different hands, and was rescued from this antique shop and that hospital's burn bin, until it fell into the hands of Bob Powers. Bob maintains this website, where every day he transcribes another holiday from that old book, usually with a great deal of editorial license.

Bob claims that the writing on this site is his. It is not. Though until this fact can be proven, Bob will continue to reap profit from those scribbled pages that a teenage boy found in his father's shallow grave so many years ago.

Come to this website every single day, and you will know what to do.
